What is Tantra?

The term "Tantra" originates from Sanskrit, the ancient language of Indian scholars. It means "fabric", "weave" or "being woven". The focus is on the unity of body, spirit and soul, the union of relative and absolute.

Sanskrit Tantra

The diverse, culturally influenced meanings of Tantra are often interpreted in various ways, also due to their great age, as the tradition of Tantra is over 7000 years old. Although Tantra is no religion, two important world religions arose from it, Buddhism and Hinduism.

In Tantra, the woman is equated with the goddess Shakti and the man with the god Shiva, and honoured accordingly.

The goal of tantric rituals and practices is a holistic lifestyle that combines spirituality and sexuality and leads to insights of the highest reality. It is one of the most direct paths to enlightenment.

Tantra Maithuna Ritual

Tantra is a spiritual path that, in contrast to most other spiritual or religious movements, does not reject sexual energy or consider it as something "low" - instead approves of it strongly.

In Tantra, the body is the basis for everything else, for the emotional, mental and spiritual development. It is a matter of getting to know better one's own body and thereby also obtaining better access to one's own feelings.

Tantra

Tantra is often equated with sex. However, this is a very limited view, as Tantra is much more. It is as if we are looking at a tree, but cannot see the forest.
